Vision Zero is a transformational approach to prevention that integrates the three dimensions of safety, health and well-being at all organizational levels. It is based on the assumption that all accidents, harm and work-related health problems can be prevented.

The Vision Zero concept is flexible and can be adapted to specific needs and priorities in any context.

The concept aims to motivate and support companies to develop a workplace prevention culture based on the belief that every accident, illness and injury at work is preventable.

Because leadership is essential, Vision Zero partners play an important role in prevention; their support and contribution are essential to the success of the campaign.

The ISSA offers Vision Zero partners and companies:

  • Full access to the Vision Zero concept materials prepared by the ISSA Special Committee on Prevention.
  • The Vision Zero Guide with 7 Golden Rules and 14 Proactive Leading Indicators
  • Vision Zero Guide and other support material
  • Vision Zero Corporate Logo
  • Vision Zero company certificate

How was this manual developed?

To support employers, managers and other executives in continuously improving safety and health conditions in their organizations, in line with Vision Zero, the ISSA has developed a practical management tool for developing a strong safety and health culture, based on extensive research on the most effective preventive measures.

During this process, over 1,000 employers, managers, other executives, prevention experts, employee representatives and labor inspectors were asked about best practices. As a result, this practical Vision Zero Guide, built around 7 Golden Rules, was created.

How to use this manual.

Each Golden Rule in the Vision Zero Guide includes a brief overview, followed by a set of principles and supported by a checklist of 14 Proactive Leading Indicators.

This way you can quickly identify which of the 7 Golden Rules are already implemented in your company, where you have room for improvement or where you need to take corrective action.
